The story

Summer Fragrances: seasonal freshness and lightness

Summer, the season of light and escape

Summer calls for scents that are fresh and luminous, never heavy on the skin — marine aquatics, sunny citrus, transporting greens and delicate florals. Heat intensifies certain materials (jasmine, tuberose) and softens others (resins, heavy ambers), calling for perfumery specifically suited to the season. Our summer selection brings together fragrances that celebrate escape, holidays and summer light.

Our Summer Fragrances selection

Our Summer Fragrances selection includes: Bois Impérial, Hibiscus Mahajád Extrait, Impadia, Aventus and ERBA PURA, all part of this selection.

The ideal olfactory families for summer

Several families shine particularly brightly at this time of year. Aquatic scents (seaweed, sea spray, lotus) capture the sea and the ocean. Citrus scents (Sicilian lemon, bergamot, grapefruit) bring invigorating freshness. Green and aromatic scents evoke the Mediterranean. Floral scents (orange blossom, neroli) enhance the warmth without weighing you down.

Adapting your scent to the season

In summer, favour lighter concentrations (Eau de Toilette, eau fraîche) that make their presence felt without weighing you down. Avoid overly opulent scents (heavy orientals, chocolatey gourmands), which can become stifling in the heat. To explore the other seasons, discover our selections for Spring, Autumn, Winter and All Seasons.

How to choose your fragrance

Choosing a fragrance happens in two stages: first discovering it on your arm, then wearing it on your skin for several hours. Our discovery box lets you try several creations at home, with no commitment. For a guided experience, our boutique at 22 rue de la Clef in Lille (France) welcomes you, with a team trained in the signature style of each house.

Le Soleil d'Or, a Lille perfumery since 1953

At Soleil d'Or, an independent Lille perfumery founded in 1953, Apolline and Victorine Maes (the fourth generation of the family) and their team have spent three quarters of a century selecting the finest signatures in international fine perfumery. Expert advice, samples included and tailored guidance.

Frequently asked questions about Summer Perfumes

Which olfactory families should you favour in summer?

Three territories dominate. Citrus fragrances — bergamot, lemon, neroli — bring freshness and sunshine. Aquatic fragrances evoke iodine and sea air. Light, luminous florals — orange blossom, jasmine, ylang — carry you through the heat without overwhelming. Avoid overly dense compositions, which the heat would amplify excessively.

How much perfume should you apply in summer?

Two sprays are plenty in summer — the heat naturally amplifies diffusion. Favour the traditional areas (neck, wrists) rather than clothing (perspiration can alter the fragrance). For a halo effect, spray onto your hair. Remember to store your perfumes away from heat and direct light during the summer to preserve their integrity.

Does Soleil d'Or offer samples for summer perfumes?

Yes, we offer up to 3 free samples with every order. For enthusiasts who want to explore more widely, our sample discovery box lets you try several creations before committing to a full-size bottle. It is one of the best ways to approach niche perfumery without risking a misstep.

What are the delivery times?

We ship within 24 working hours from Lille via Colissimo or Colissimo Point Relais (France and Europe). Orders to Asia are shipped via Colissimo Asie. For Canada, the USA and other destinations, delivery is by FedEx. Delivery is free from €60 in mainland France. You can also collect your order directly from our boutique in Lille, free of charge.

How can Soleil d'Or advise me on summer perfumes?

Four generations of expertise since 1953: Apolline and Victorine Maes personally guide you in your choice. Whether in our boutique in Lille, by phone or via the online contact form, we take the time to identify your real needs before recommending a product. Our discovery box is also an excellent starting point for exploring our niche world.
