The story

Mendittorosa: the Mediterranean soul in fine perfumery

Stefania Squeglia and the South as a matrix

Mendittorosa was founded in 2013 in Naples by Stefania Squeglia, an art historian with a passion for Mediterranean mythology. The house draws its inspiration from the sea, volcanoes, ancient ruins and the pagan imagination of southern Italy. Each creation is conceived as a poem, accompanied by a text written by Stefania, and housed in a bottle-object set with symbols. Demanding auteur perfumery, on the border between art and spirituality.

The emblematic trails of the Neapolitan house

The Mendittorosa pantheon brings together Mauna, Talento, Osang, Athanor and Rituale, signatures that have established the house among niche enthusiasts.

A sacred, symbolic perfumery

Since its founding, Mendittorosa has cultivated a unique signature: fragrances experienced as rituals, in which every material carries meaning. Stefania Squeglia works with the finest Italian and international noses, and publishes each creation with a story explaining the reasoning behind the composition. It is one of the rare houses to fully embrace the intellectual and spiritual dimension of perfume.

Who should wear Mendittorosa, and when?

Mendittorosa is aimed at those curious about intimate styles, who seek a perfume-poem rather than a fragrance for the occasion. The house is unisex. Depending on the creation, the aquatic, floral, smoky and oriental families are all represented in the catalogue. If you enjoy Mendittorosa, you will also love exploring Storie Veneziane, Laboratorio Olfattivo and Profumum Roma, three other Italian auteur signatures at Soleil d'Or.

How to choose your Mendittorosa fragrance

Frequently asked questions about Mendittorosa perfumes

Who is behind Mendittorosa?

Mendittorosa is an Italian artistic perfume house founded in 2012 by Stefania Squeglia, originally from Naples. The brand turns intimate memories into olfactory compositions — Stefania herself describes it as *"ultra-niche"*, too artistic and artisanal to be a mere label. She set up her creative studio in Paris (with the FLAIR studio — Amélie Bourgeois and Anne-Sophie Behaghel) while keeping the Italian soul alive in its production.

What sets Mendittorosa apart?

The *"Odori d'Anima"* concept — scents of the soul. Each perfume is conceived as a "prayer on the skin", an olfactory talisman. The bottles are works of art handmade by Italian artists, in limited editions. *Clean* formulas (no colourings, no BHA/BHT, no PBA/PVC) and natural raw materials. It is a conceptual and emotional perfumery, halfway between contemporary art, spirituality and haute parfumerie.

What are Mendittorosa's main collections?

Odori d'Anima brings together the house's first spiritual creations (Le Mat, Osang, Nettuno…). Talismans offers fragrances conceived as olfactory protection, with the sub-line Talismans Extreme (including Archetipo, Rituale). Versi is a trilogy exploring the meeting of poetry and perfumery: Ithaka (inspired by Cavafy), Orlo (Sylvia Plath), Albatros (Baudelaire). Each creation is signed by a guest perfumer: Luca Maffei, Camille Chemardin, Anne-Sophie Behaghel.

Does Soleil d'Or offer Mendittorosa samples?

Yes, we offer up to 3 free samples on request with every perfume order. For enthusiasts who want to explore Mendittorosa more widely, our sample discovery box lets you try several perfumes before committing to a full-size bottle. It is one of the best ways to approach this house without making a misstep.

What are the delivery times?

We ship within 24 working hours from Lille via Colissimo or Colissimo Point Relais (France and Europe). Orders to Asia are shipped via Colissimo Asia. For Canada, the USA and other destinations, delivery is via FedEx. Delivery is free in mainland France from €49 to a pickup point and from €69 for home delivery. You can also collect your order directly from our Lille shop, free of charge.
