Vetiver Java

Vetiver Java is born in the green of the tea plantations of old Java, in the shadow of the Kawah Ijen volcano, where the long roots of vetiver reinforce the paths — and yield an earthy, almost ashen note found nowhere else.

Behind its French-sounding name lies the Tamil vettiveru, the long-rooted plant from which textiles are also made. Having smelled the varieties of the Antilles, Haiti and Bourbon Island, the house pressed on to Java: close to great volcanoes still active, vetiver there loses all linearity — sharp, angular, smoky, even burnt, shot through with sudden green, floral and spicy nuances.

For the Black Collection, this intense woody heart opens on light floral notes and speaks to those who take on today's challenges. A vetiver of character, with a distinguished trail.
