Mimosa Tanneron

Mimosa Tanneron was born in the Tanneron massif where, under the powerful mistral, yellow stretches as far as the eye can see. Its scent heralds spring's renewal and instils a strange feeling of calm and omnipotence — all roads suddenly seem open.

Imported from Tasmania, Acacia Dealbata so charmed the English that they spread it across the south of France, where they spent their winters. Its essential oil, with calming properties, was first produced in the 1940s; in revisiting it, Jean-Claude Ellena has immortalised the light-hearted spirit of spring.

For the Les Parfums de Grasse collection, the master signs an ode to tenderness and the first stirrings of love: mimosa absolute at the top, rose and hawthorn at the heart, white musk in the base. A fragrance imbued with lightness, like the first signs of spring on the hills of Provence.

Jean-Claude Ellena, born in Grasse in 1947, is one of the greatest contemporary perfumers and was Hermès' exclusive in-house nose. His minimalist, luminous, watercolour-like signature can be discovered at Soleil d'Or through Rose de Mai, Mimosa Tanneron and Essence Rare — his creations for Perris Monte Carlo, Houbigant and Laboratorio Olfattivo.
