Jasmin de Pays

Jasmin de Pays tells the story that Grasse jasmine writes from dawn to dusk: first tender and green, then warm like orange blossom, and finally deep and almost animalic as it fades. Only one idea remains at the end of the day — jasmine is eternal.

When Jean-Claude Ellena recalls his childhood, he sees himself holding a jasmine flower between thumb and forefinger, a flower with the translucence of porcelain that heralded his vocation. At harvest time, each hour altered its tender scent: nature taught him that a fragrance composes and decomposes itself without ever ceasing to be unique.

For the Les Parfums de Grasse collection, this soliflore of memory recreates the natural scent of the white flower: jasmine absolute at the top, clove and tagetes at the heart, musk in the base. An act of devotion to Provence, with a tender, lasting sillage.

Jean-Claude Ellena, born in Grasse in 1947, is one of the greatest contemporary perfumers and was Hermès' exclusive in-house nose. His minimalist, luminous, watercolour-like signature can be discovered at Soleil d'Or through Rose de Mai, Mimosa Tanneron and Essence Rare — his creations for Perris Monte Carlo, Houbigant and Laboratorio Olfattivo.
